Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 28, 2026. This policy explains what data Watchling collects, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Who We Are

Watchling ("we", "us", "our") is an uptime and infrastructure monitoring service operated at watchling.com. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name and email address.

Monitoring targets: URLs, IP addresses, hostnames, API endpoints, and server credentials (SSH keys or passwords) that you add to Watchling for monitoring purposes. This data is used solely to perform monitoring checks on your behalf.

Usage data: We collect logs of monitoring check results, response times, and error events associated with your account.

Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card details on our servers.

Communications: If you contact us via the contact form or email, we retain those communications to respond to your inquiry.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Watchling monitoring service.
• To send you downtime alerts, SSL expiry warnings, and system notifications you have configured.
• To process subscription payments and manage your account.
• To respond to support requests and inquiries.
• To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity (including enforcement of our Terms of Service).
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Monitor check logs are retained for up to 90 days on the free plan and up to 12 months on paid plans. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted service providers (hosting, payment processing, email delivery) who act as data processors under our instructions. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Watchling or others.

6. Cookies

We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in and to protect against CSRF attacks. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser, but this will prevent you from logging into the application.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, hashed password storage, and access controls. Server credentials you provide are encrypted at rest. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure — please use strong, unique passwords for your account.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Watchling is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of Watchling after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
